Round Meadow Elementary Turns 50!

Hidden Hills has its share of iconic spots: The sign over the front gate, the bus stop, and of course, Round Meadow Elementary School.

This winter our school will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Since its humble beginnings in 1965, children from all over Hidden Hills have attended Round Meadow, learning to read and write, and do arithmetic. Round Meadow Elementary is more than just a local school, it’s part of the neighborhood.

Here are some of the upcoming celebrations planned for the 50th Anniversary:

Aerial Photo

December 5: At the end of the regular Friday assembly, all of the students (decked out in their RM spirit wear) will form the number “50” on the blacktop and Cornerstone Photography will assist us in taking an aerial photograph that the school will use to publicize and celebrate the school’s golden anniversary.

Commemorative Assembly and Re-Dedication

January 30: The school will hold a special, commemorative assembly and re-dedication ceremony to mark its 50th anniversary (the actual anniversary is February 1, but that is a Saturday).  At this assembly on the blacktop, they will recognize all of the current and past RM staff who have worked tirelessly to make the school great as well as the former students who have matriculated through Round Meadow.  They will bury a time capsule that will be filled with items from this year’s students and sing a rousing round of the Round Meadow spirit song.  If you are available to attend, please let the school know so that they can make sure to save you seat and acknowledge you on this special day.  Also, if you know of other Round Meadow staff and/or alumni who would like to attend this special assembly, please send the school their contact information so that they can make sure they know that they are invited.

Celebratory Dinner

February 28: The Round Meadow PFA is putting on celebratory dinner, casino night, and silent auction at the Agoura Sheraton. More information will come with details.

If you are interested in nostalgic photos and news items, follow the school on Twitter (@RoundMeadowElem) and Facebook (Round.Meadow).  If you aren’t already, please follow them for regular updates and fun postings!
